Supplier failure cover with Holiday Nights
What is Supplier Failure Cover?
Supplier Failure Cover (SFC) allows you to put together your own holiday by booking accommodation and transfers with Holiday Nights, but
flights directly with the airline, whilst still being 100% financially protected in a similar way that ATOL protects traditional package
holidays.
Supplier Failure Cover is provided by Rock Insurance and underwritten by the Insurance giant Europe Assistance. It covers the customer in
the event of the failure of a supplier of flights, transfers or accommodation.
In the event of a failure the customer is covered for up to £5,000 for the cost of replacing each of the failed services. Customers simply
find and book new flights immediately and then claim their money back via the SFC policy. Even if the prices of flights double as they did
after the recent XL Airways collapse the cost is covered up to £5,000 per person so unlike the ATOL scheme which only refund what you have
paid, customers are very unlikely to be left out of pocket.
With SFC you can book low cost carriers, scheduled airlines or charter airlines direct or via travel agents using any payment method you
like and it is still covered, unlike ATOL cover which only protects charter airlines. Not only this but the same policy covers the
accommodation and transfers elements of you holiday that you have booked on Holiday Nights.
What is covered?
- Flights - if any of the following occur then you will have cover up to £5,000 for replacement services
- The airline ceases trading
- The airline cancels the flight and does not offer an alternative
- The flight is delayed (for any reason - not just financial failure!) by more than 12 hours, and the airline cannot offer an alternative within 12 hours of the intended departure time
- Accommodation - if the hotel supplier (bed bank or overseas ground handler) or the hotel ceases trading, the customer will have cover up to £5,000 for replacement services
- Transfers - if the transfer supplier ceases trading the customer will have cover up to £5,000 for replacement services
How does Supplier Failure Cover (SFC) differ from ATOL?
- SFC covers all flights, not only charter airlines.
- If an ATOL holiday company collapses prior to travel the customer will lose their holiday and will have to make a claim to recover their money or hopefully transfer to another operator. SFC allows the customer to travel on holiday by covering the cost of replacement services for any elements that are required.
- If the customer has booked ATOL bonded flight only and the supplier fails, they will only be able to claim back the cost of the original flights. With SFC they are covered for the cost of replacing the services up to a total of £5,000
- If clients are in resort and their low cost airline or scheduled carrier fails, they will not be protected by ATOL. They will have to pay for new return flights. SFC will cover replacement flights for up to £5,000
SFC allows you to protect each element you book from the collapse of a supplier and gives you peace of mind that whatever happens you can travel.
